People-Spotting in Granada

Hello Tuesday! I'm sending to you my view of the markets and signboards of Granada today.

I had quite an adventurous start to my visit when Iberia Airlines decided not to send our luggage on the same flight from Madrid as us, leaving us bereft of fresh clothes to change into. Iberia had assured us that we would get our bags delivered to us in Granada by that evening. But when our bags didn't arrive by 10PM, we rushed out in the rain to buy a few clothes to last us until the next day, at the least. We'd spotted the Albaicin markets earlier in the day, and we managed to find one last shop about to close. The shopkeeper did not know any English and our Spanish was limited to 'si' and 'gracias'. But we not only dealt with the guy in sign language, we even managed to get a nice bargain for the bunch of cheap hippy clothes we bought! Of course we were extremely chuffed and pleased with ourselves as we ran back to the hotel in the rain. Fresh, dry, cheap clothes had never seemed as precious and welcome as they did that day as we changed into them!

Our luggage arrived ten minutes later.

Enjoy your postcards for today!

I am getting itchy feet and hands just looking at this! Flea markets are the best!

And isn't the coca cola signage so cool? Though I wonder why create a work of art and then of all the possible poetry, write down 'Coca Cola' in the middle! ;-)

Btw: You need to give me the download on 'stuff'.

What colours!

Wow!! Love that Coca-Cola sign. Great localisation of a global logo.

Bhavna: To be honest, the flea markets were very similar to the ones in India:) But that didn't make them look and feel any less exciting! That blue pattern on the Coca Cola sign is infact typical of Andalucian pottery :)

And of yes, will give all the lowdown on 'stuff' ;)

SloMo: Amazing colours! And they were played up by the warm strong sun and the shadows of the beautiful alleys :)

Bobin: I agree! Thanks for dropping in :)

I really like the photo of the stand with the grains in the baskets. It has 'pop'!

I wonder what the Coca Cola people would think about having their logo reproduced in Pepsi blue.

What a nice variety of signage and I love the memorial plaque to Paseo del P Manjon. It's stood the test of time remarkably well.

Erinn: Thank you. I think it's the red and gold which makes it 'pop' :)

Chailey: Haha! I didn't think of that - but I did find that logo incredibly pretty.

I think that memorial might have been restored or freshly painted over recently - it really didn't look that old, though it did look really striking against the yellow of the wall.

beautiful pictures. We leave for Granada in 2 weeks-- a "recon" trip for a home we hope to build in Tucson, Arizona---Hacienda style. Looking for rec. on flea markets, antique districts and salvage yards in Andalucia...
