Postcards from Spain | The Streets and Alleys of Granada

~ ~
Thank you for the great response to my first set of postcards!

In my second set of postcards from Spain, I'm sending some streets and alleys your way. Granada is laid out on a hill and the streets wind up in steps or curve around the hill all around town, especially in the old city or the Albaicin quarter. I love peeping into alleys to see what's going on in there and what they lead to. Here's what I espied.

narrow lanes have so much character (although people who live in them may disagree) - you can lean across the windows and borrow that cup of sugar or whatever from your neighbor across the street!

You obviously chose the times of day well, but the place looks deserted. Lovely!

traveholic: Very true! I love them for the vistas they create and the constantly changing play of light and shadows in them:)

Chailey: Thanks! Granada is not very crowded and at any given point of time you'd find a large concentration of people in the plazas and squares - the streets were very often deserted:) Also, we were early-risers by Granada standards. The town wears a deserted look until about about 11AM - things wake up and start moving only around noon and go on till the wee hours:)

Now I know why you didn't want to get back home.

I love this set. Alleys sloping up and down are some of my favourite parts of any city, where they exist. It looks like you had good weather! The 5th and 8th ones are the ones I like most. I think its the olay of colour, light and shadow. The flowers in the 5th and the lone tree in the 8th somehow stand out and add charm to the surrounding buildings.

SloMo: :) I want to go back!

Anjali: Thanks for such a detailed comment:) I love such alleys too and that is why I went bonkers clicking them in Granada. They have a special kind of charm and character.

Jyothy: They were as enticing as they look! Thanks:)
